For knives, a different type of steel is used for the production of the blade, popularly called "knife steel". Less chromium and no nickel is added to this 13/0 chrome steel alloy. By using this steel, the blade can be sharpened or serrated more sharply and it will become blunt less quickly during use. Due to the lack of nickel, the blade of the knife is more sensitive to flash rust and it is possible that the fly rust will initially only occur around the blade of your knives.
This form of rust is caused by long-term contact with moisture, water, acids and / or salts, but also by contact with other steels or by rust on other articles. We would like to point out the following care & use tips:
- Immediately remove food residues after use
- Don´t mix the cutlery with other rusty items in the dishwasher, e.g., a rusty peeler.
- Store the cutlery in a place with dry air.
You can easily remove this surface rust yourself with a soft cloth and a cleaning agent specially for steel or stainless steel. If the maintenance of cutlery is neglected, this will be affected to such an extent that the damage is permanent.
